About Kenji

I grew up on the central coast of California where I still reside. The central coast was and is a beautiful place to grow up. my youth was filled with bikes, skateboards, I played soccer and basketball, spent time in the ocean and on the foothills throughout San Luis Obispo county. I was gifted with athletics which kept me out of trouble and kept me in school. My love for track and field eventually took me to the next level and training collegiately developed discipline, a better understanding of myself, what I wanted, and how to attain my goals. This mentality has translated directly into woodworking. There are milestones that I would like to hit in respects to woodworking, but overall I recognize that this craft is timeless. A woodworker is an honorable title, it requires years of patience and understanding.

At age 31, Kenji finds himself completely enamored with woodworking. He and his wife Andrea have a baby boy (Kareem) and care for their home in Nipomo California with dog “Turbo Blaster” cat “Genghis” and five chickens. Kenji currently works full-time as a woodworker at a custom door & window shop in San Luis Obispo. He spends his off-time sharpening his skills whether it be practicing old-world joinery, or studying well-known artists. He admires the works of George Nakashima, Sam Maloof, Natsuki Ishitani, Alison Crowther, Tedd Benson. Kenji aspires to work full-time for himself making high-end one of a kind furniture.
