This bench and the legs are cut form the same maple tree which has beautiful curls with cameos of spalting. The trestle is made of Ash that has a bit of live edge to it. I like the illusion of a floating benchtop and you’ll see me incorporate this in many of my furnitures. No nails, not screws, all joinery and it breaks down completely. This is truly a one of a kind bench.

They (most woodworkers) say to clean up the bark as best as you can but I like leaving it on. It will fall off eventually, and I like the thought if it falling off organically. I would liken it to “hitting the lotto” if you were to actually witness a chunk of bark fall off.
